Crochet cluster coaster pattern

So I had a lovely surprise on Sunday I found that I was featured on crochet concupiscence’s blog written by the wonderful kathryn, it really was a wonderful surprise and I’m feeling a little proud.

Anyhoo I’ve had quite a few people ask about the pattern for the coasters featured so as I made up the pattern, which I did write down. I thought it would be nice to share as it’s the season of giving….

So for these particular coasters I used style craft cotton dk in dove & white with 4.5mm hook, but you could use any cotton really with the appropriate hook.

Pattern – uk terms

Special stitches

dtr (double treble) cluster –  *yarn over twice insert hook into stitch yarn over and pull through 2loops (leaving 3 loops on hook) yarn over and pull through 2 loops (leaving 2 loops) repeat from * again (leaving 3 loops on hook) repeat from *again (leaving 4 loops on hook) yarn over and pull through all 4 loops

dtr ( double treble) begining cluster – ch 4, *yarn over twice insert hook into stitch yarn over and pull through 2loops (leaving 3loops on hook) yarn over and pull through 2 loops (leaving 2 loops on hook) repeat from * again (leaving 3 loops on hook) yarn over and pull through all 3 loops

Tr (treble) cluster – yarn over insert hook into stitch yarn over and pull through 2loops (leaving 2 loops on hook) repeat from * again (leaving 3 loops on hook) repeat from *again (leaving 4 loops on hook) yarn over and pull through all 4 loops

Tr (treble) begining cluster – ch 3, *yarn over insert hook into space yarn over and pull through 2loops (leaving 2 loops on hook) repeat from * again (leaving 3 loops on hook) yarn over and pull through all 3 loops

Pattern

Start with a magic ring ch2, 12 tr stitches into the ring, pull the tail tight, sl st into 1st tr.

Round 1 – dtr beginning cluster, ch1, dtr cluster, ch 1 in each stitch in the round, sl st into top of first cluster.

Round 2 – tr beginning cluster into previous ch1 space from round 1, ch2, tr cluster in same space, tr cluster, ch2, tr cluster in the next ch1 from previous round, repeat till the end of the round, sl st into top of begining cluster.

Round 3 – dc in ch2 from previous round, 5 tr inbetween pairs of cluster, dc in ch2 repeat till end of round, sl st into first dc.

Faster off and sew in ends!

So please feel free to make and share and I would be ever so grateful for a tag or share here and there.

CAL – Week 25 Addie – Week 26 Firenze – Week 27 Dalliance – Week 28 Katharine’s Rose

Afternoon lovelies I am very sorry I’ve not really kept up with posting I’ve been a bit busy with an order and teething toddlers…the tooth did pop eventually and orders have been posted so I’ve had a week of catch up with my CAL blocks.

So here they are….

August CAL catch up 25-28

So as before here are the details, its never to late to join! To find out more visit the Facebook Group Official CCC Social Group. The past blocks can be found here and this CAL wouldn’t be without the talented Dedri’s tutorials which go hand in hand with each block pattern every week. So here are my attempts the last few weeks:

Addie Square (week 25)

Hook: 5mm
Pattern: by Melissa Green
Yarn: Stylecraft Special DK in Raspberry, Mocha and White
Notes: I love the spikes in this block but it doesn’t completely lie flat at the moment which is annoying I’m hoping it will after blocking.

Firenze Square (Week 26)

Notes: This block is so pretty but it took alot of concentration and a couple of nights but so worth it don’t you think?

Dalliance (Week 27)

Hook: 5mm
Pattern: by Margaret MacInnis
Yarn: Stylecraft Special DK in Raspberry, Mocha and White
Notes: This block was fairly easy to work up but it’s not one of my favourites to look at I’m afraid but does go pretty well with the others. I chose option A for this block.

Katharine’s Rose (week 28)

Hook: 5mm
Pattern: by Melinda Miller
Yarn: Stylecraft Special DK in Raspberry, Mocha and White
Notes: The Rose is my favourite part of this block, and the cable stitch wasn’t as daunting as it sounded, and worked up lovely. I did take Dedri’s advice and I used here row 18, which can be found on her blog to help make the block as square as possible.
