Completed Crochet CAL 2014

Soooooo I’ve an confession I actually finished this CAL blanket a good few week ago for my brother and his partners 30th birthday, and I’ve just not had a chance to share with you the completed blanket. So here it is….

CAL Crochet Blanket A Block A Week 2014

Hook | 5mm

Yarn | Stylecraft Special DK in Mocha, White and Raspberry

Blocks | can be found here

CAL BlanketI simple joined them by stitching them together using the whipped stitch in the back loops.

CAL Blanket rolledI didn’t really set the blocks out in any particular order as I liked the randomness (plus I was tight on time to get it finished) I did though place all the puffy/more textured blocks in a cross in the middle.

CAL Blanket 1

CAL blanket 2The Border | I simply spent hours on pinterest but eventually decided on two rows of double crochet (uk treble), a V Stitch row, another double crochet row and then simply a single crochet (uk double crochet) in a contrasting colour. and I was quite happy with the outcome.

CAL BorderSo for something that has taking me a good year in the making I am very happy with the completed blanket and I was very sad to see it leave, but I do know the recipients love it as much as I loved making it!

If you have like following this CAL on my blog why not visit us over on the offical CCC facebook page and give some a go.

Right now to find another CAL……

CAL – Week 25 Addie – Week 26 Firenze – Week 27 Dalliance – Week 28 Katharine’s Rose

Afternoon lovelies I am very sorry I’ve not really kept up with posting I’ve been a bit busy with an order and teething toddlers…the tooth did pop eventually and orders have been posted so I’ve had a week of catch up with my CAL blocks.

So here they are….

August CAL catch up 25-28

So as before here are the details, its never to late to join! To find out more visit the Facebook Group Official CCC Social Group. The past blocks can be found here and this CAL wouldn’t be without the talented Dedri’s tutorials which go hand in hand with each block pattern every week. So here are my attempts the last few weeks:

Addie Square (week 25)

Hook: 5mm
Pattern: by Melissa Green
Yarn: Stylecraft Special DK in Raspberry, Mocha and White
Notes: I love the spikes in this block but it doesn’t completely lie flat at the moment which is annoying I’m hoping it will after blocking.

Firenze Square (Week 26)

Hook: 5mm
Pattern: by Julie Yeager Designs
Yarn: Stylecraft Special DK in Raspberry, Mocha and White
Notes: This block is so pretty but it took alot of concentration and a couple of nights but so worth it don’t you think?

Dalliance (Week 27)

Hook: 5mm
Pattern: by Margaret MacInnis
Yarn: Stylecraft Special DK in Raspberry, Mocha and White
Notes: This block was fairly easy to work up but it’s not one of my favourites to look at I’m afraid but does go pretty well with the others. I chose option A for this block.

Katharine’s Rose (week 28)

Hook: 5mm
Pattern: by Melinda Miller
Yarn: Stylecraft Special DK in Raspberry, Mocha and White
Notes: The Rose is my favourite part of this block, and the cable stitch wasn’t as daunting as it sounded, and worked up lovely. I did take Dedri’s advice and I used here row 18, which can be found on her blog to help make the block as square as possible.

cal blocks June

This is a great CAL  to take part in and I would definitely recommend this to anyone, to find out more visit the Facebook Group Official CCC Social Group. The past blocks can be found here and this cal wouldn’t be without the talented Dedri’s tutorials which go hand in hand with each block pattern every week. So here are my attempts the last few weeks:

Crown Jewels (week 22)

Hook: 5mm
Pattern: by Melinder Miller
Yarn: Stylecraft Special DK in Raspberry, Mocha and White
Notes: As much as I love the finished block I definitely had a love hate relationship with this block as it took at this two attempts to get my popcorns right, but I’m fairly pleased with it.

See How They Run (Week 23)

Hook: 5mm
Pattern: by Margaret MacInnis
Yarn: Stylecraft Special DK in Raspberry, Mocha and White
Notes: This block reminds me of snowflakes! How odd! I did like this block and it was fairly easy to work up. The last row I did just sc in every stitch and chain as I was using the same colour and the spike wasn’t really showing through.

Grandma’s Heart Square (Week 24)

Hook: 5mm
Pattern: by Carola Wijma
Yarn: Stylecraft Special DK in Raspberry, Mocha and White
Notes: Now this block is very Alice in Wonderland and I couldn’t really follow the pattern so I relied mainly on dedri’s tutorial quite alot. I do love the finished block and would love to make more, watch this space…

Harlequin Shells (Bonus Block)

Hook: 5mm
Pattern: by Carolyn Christmas
Yarn: Stylecraft Special DK in Raspberry, Mocha and White
Notes: How lovely does this block look?! I have made it a little too large but I think it should be aok, this was a pretty straight forward block and I made it up without really thinking to hard I think a baby blanket version is on the horizon.
